Former Home of C.F. Ramuz in Pully to be Turned into a Museum

The Charles Ferdinand Ramuz Museum, located in the old winery house of La Muette in Pully VD, was inaugurated on 23rd September. The house, built in the 17th century, is made of pink stone with green shutters. It was the home of the famous Waadtländer writer and poet from 1930 until his death in 1947. The right, tower-side part of the imposing building has been transformed into a museum, with two floors and an exhibition area of 100 square meters. The exhibition is centered around Ramuz's workroom, which has remained unchanged since 1930. It features a large digital and interactive book with a touchscreen, displaying the author's work process. It is surrounded by books, manuscripts, letters, archive photos and historical objects, such as the blue-yellow boxes of "Celtique" cigarettes that Ramuz smoked. The museum also showcases Ramuz's library, showing what he read. On the ground floor, visitors can get acquainted with the author's work, including his novels "Derborence", "Aline", "La Grande Peur dans la montagne" and "Si le soleil ne revenait pas". The latter was translated into German last May, making Ramuz popular in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. The visit is guided by an audio guide, divided into seven chapters focusing on four topics: the universe of Ramuz, his texts, the man and the writer. The museum and audio guide were developed in collaboration with the Centre des littératures en Suisse romande (CLSR) of the University of Lausanne, particularly with its director Daniel Maggetti and research leader Stéphane Pétermann.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
