The Global Wealth Report from Allianz shows that the Swiss remain the wealthiest people per capita in the world, with a gross wealth of more than 356,000 euros per capita (roughly 345,000 francs). This is despite a 2.1% decrease in wealth due to falling stock prices. The net wealth per capita in Switzerland decreased by 4.4% to almost 239,000 euros (231,000 francs). This is the largest decrease since the financial crisis of 2008. Globally, the gross wealth of private households decreased by 2.7% in 2022, with financial investments worth 6.6 trillion euros being lost. The net wealth of the 57 countries studied was 177 trillion euros, a decrease of 5.1% from the previous year. However, the Allianz economists expect a growth of 6% in the current year due to the positive development of the stock markets. The wealth is still not evenly distributed, with the richest 10% of the world's population (around 560 million people) owning 85% of the total net wealth, with an average of 270,000 euros. Despite the losses, the global wealth is still 19% higher than in 2019, before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
