A 36-year-old man is due to appear in the Criminal Court of Lucerne today (Monday) to answer charges of murder. He is suspected of having taken the life of his partner with 65 stab wounds. In the summer of 2021, according to the indictment of the prosecutor's office, a fatal incident occurred. The partner of the accused was planning to visit her parents in Honduras. When she was about to leave for the airport in the morning, an argument ensued, after which the man inflicted numerous stab wounds on her with a butterfly knife. The accused attempted to fend off his partner and flee unsuccessfully. After the killing, the accused made attempts to dispose of the body. A few days later, the ex-husband of the victim filed a missing persons report, prompting police involvement. The police eventually found the body of the woman, packaged in a box, at the accused's home. The prosecution is demanding a life sentence for the accused. The ex-husband of the victim and their three children are acting as plaintiffs in the criminal and civil cases. They are demanding a compensation of 70,000 Swiss francs per child and a damages award of 10,857 Swiss francs. ©Keystone/SDA
