At its extraordinary meeting in Bern, the SP Party Council described all six candidates as "excellently qualified" for the SP Federal Council ticket. In addition, the party council is recommending a two-candidate ticket for the Federal Council elections on December 13, as announced on Thursday evening via X, formerly Twitter.

Tomorrow, Friday, the SP parliamentary group will decide on the size of the ticket that will stand for the SP in the Federal Council elections. On Saturday, the party will then announce the final nomination that it will propose to the United Federal Assembly for the general elections on December 13.

The candidates for the SP Federal Council ticket are Bernese National Councillor Matthias Aebischer, Bernese Government Councillor Evi Allemann, Graubünden National Councillor Jon Pult, Basel Government Councillor Beat Jans, Zurich Councillor of States Daniel Jositsch and Vaud National Councillor Roger Nordmann.

The candidates presented themselves to party members and the public at four public hearings in Geneva, Biel, Olten and Schaffhausen from the beginning of November. This was after the SP examination committee gave the candidates the green light for the ticket.
