Axenstrasse in Uri remains closed until further notice

For safety reasons, the Axenstrasse in Uri will remain closed between the Flüelen traffic circle and the Wolfsprung junction until further notice. According to the police, on Saturday morning, surveillance instruments registered movements in the terrain.
There were no injuries in the possible rockfall shortly before 5.00 a.m., and according to the information available so far, neither the road nor the bridge was damaged, as reported by the Uri cantonal police. However, due to the weather conditions, further incidents cannot be ruled out. As soon as the weather permits, specialists will assess the situation on site.
According to the police, access to Tellsplatte, Sisikon and Riemenstalden is possible. However, they recommended avoiding the Axenstrasse on a large scale via the Seelisberg tunnel and Lucerne.
