The FDP does not recognize the Greens' claim to a seat in the Federal Council. "There is no reason to change the magic formula," said parliamentary group leader Damien Cottier. The order of the parties according to their voter share has not changed since the parliamentary elections in the fall.
According to Cottier, the Greens were unable to confirm their 2019 result and fell below 10 percent. The head of the FDP parliamentary group explained that this voter share was not enough to entitle him to a seat on the Federal Council.
In his speech to the United Federal Assembly, Cottier emphasized the principle of concordance, stability and institutions. "These pillars make Switzerland a reliable and predictable country that is internationally recognized."
