18.6 kWh of electricity per 100 kilometers with the e-car

Newly registered e-cars in Switzerland consumed an average of 18.6 kilowatt hours of electricity per 100 kilometers last year. This is according to new figures from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
Electricity consumption varies greatly between vehicle models: The most economical 10 percent were a fifth lower, while the most energy-intensive 10 percent consumed almost twice as much electricity.
By way of comparison, the best-selling car in Switzerland last year, the Tesla Y model with rear-wheel drive, consumes just under 16 kilowatt hours of electricity per 100 kilometers, according to the manufacturer.
Last year, around one in five new cars was purely electric. The market share of "electric cars" has thus risen by 3 percentage points in the past twelve months. In the previous three years, the share had grown by 4 to 5 percentage points.
