On Tuesday evening, over 80 Guggenmusigen got the carnival revellers in the mood for the end of the "rüüdige Fasnachtstage" at the Monstercorso in Lucerne. This marks the end of the official part of Lucerne Fasnacht 2024. But the colorful hustle and bustle is not quite over yet.
Because Lucerne's carnival cannot be switched off at the touch of a button. Fools are likely to cheer up the city until well into Ash Wednesday and are already looking forward to next year. Then the carnival starts a little later, on February 27.
According to estimates by the Lucerne police, around 40,000 people took part in this year's Monstercorso. This is a third more than last year, when 30,000 carnival revellers followed the march through the city. According to the police, the official end of the Lucerne carnival went off without any incidents worth mentioning, as reported on the news portal X.
The start was at 7.30 pm at the train station. The more than 80 Guggenmusigen then marched along the lake basin to the old town, where the concert ended at around 10:30 pm.
After the two big parades on Dirty Thursday and Güdismonday, the Monstercorso of the Vereinigte Guggenmusigen is the third major event of the Lucerne Carnival. The two parades attracted a total of 100,000 spectators to Lucerne.
