Simon Bärtschi is to become the new Head of Journalism at Tamedia. The 54-year-old former editor-in-chief of the "Berner Zeitung" and "BZ/Bund" will take over from Mathias Müller von Blumencron, who has managed the business ad interim for one and a half years and is now handing it over as planned.

In his new role, Bärtschi will also take a seat on the Executive Board, as the media company announced on Wednesday. For the man from Bern, it is a return to his old place of work. Bärtschi previously worked at Zurich's Werdstrasse for 15 years. He was deputy editor-in-chief of the "SonntagsZeitung" and a member of the editorial board of the "Tages-Anzeiger" and "SonntagsZeitung".

In Bern, the change will result in a major shake-up: Wolf Röcken, previously a member of the Bern editorial team and responsible for daily management and news management, will become the new head of the Bern editorial team and editor-in-chief of the BZ. Marcello Odermatt, previously co-head of the Bern department, will become the new editor-in-chief of the Bund.
