Swiss hospital treats children from the Gaza Strip

The Bethlehem Children's Hospital in the West Bank, which is run by a Swiss association, is treating 68 children from the Gaza Strip. This was announced by the association Kinderhilfe Bethlehem. Doctors, nurses and social workers provide comprehensive help, according to the association.
The group of 68 children from the Gaza Strip arrived in Bethlehem in mid-March, the Lucerne-based organization announced on Monday. The children are being accommodated in a specialized facility and are being cared for by the SOS Children's Village. The Bethlehem Children's Hospital is responsible for their medical care.
It was the first time since the beginning of the war on October 7 that people had been evacuated from the Gaza Strip to the West Bank. The children had previously lived in a house run by the SOS Children's Village organization in Rafah, it was reported.
Bethlehem Children's Hospital is also caring for a group of children from the Gaza Strip who were being treated in Israeli hospitals when the war broke out and were unable to return home, the association added. Seven children are now receiving follow-up care at the children's hospital.
Children's hospital for 60 years
Bethlehem Children's Hospital says it works closely with the Palestinian Ministry of Health and is available for the further treatment of sick children from the Gaza Strip.
The Swiss association Kinderhilfe Bethlehem, an international Christian aid organization, has been financing and operating the Bethlehem Children's Hospital in the West Bank for 60 years. Tens of thousands of children and babies are treated as inpatients or outpatients every year, it said. The hospital is entirely under local management and provides a livelihood for 250 employees.
