Recovery work has begun after the bus accident on the A9

Following the serious bus accident with several fatalities and injuries on the Autobahn 9 near Leipzig, recovery work has begun. A recovery crane is on site, a police spokeswoman said on Wednesday evening. The highway in the direction of Munich is still fully closed. It initially remained unclear when the closure would be lifted.
A double-decker bus operated by Flixbus, which was traveling from Berlin to Zurich, left the road between the Wiedemar junction and the Schkeuditzer Kreuz junction on Wednesday and overturned. The police reported several fatalities and around 20 injuries. It was still unclear in the evening why the bus veered off the road to the right.
