From April 5 to 13, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Dave Holland will be performing at the Cully Jazz music festival in Cully, Vaud. Clint Eastwood's son Kyle Eastwood plays a tribute to his father on the shores of Lake Geneva - he reinterprets works from his father's cinematic oeuvre.
Lakecia Benjamin and star guest Dee Dee Bridgewater will perform on the opening night of the 41st edition of Cully Jazz, as the organizers announced. Another jazz monument is double bassist Dave Holland, who is returning to the festival with a trio. Holland has made a name for himself alongside greats such as Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock.
Double bassist Kyle Eastwood combines jazz with the art of film. With his quintet and Eric Legnini on piano, he plays pieces from the films of his father Clint Eastwood. The actor and director Clint Eastwood is known for films such as "Gran Torino" and "Dirty Harry".
Black Lives is a project with a political background: the collective aims to combat racism through music. Black Lives features a total of thirteen people on stage, including singer Catherine Russel and singer, composer and guitarist Raul Midón.
Many artists from Switzerland
Saxophonist Nubya Garcia will give the festival's closing concert. Other headliners include double bassist Avishai Cohen and oud player Dhafer Youssef. The oud is a short-necked lute from the Middle East.
This year, 41 percent of the artists are from Switzerland. These include harpist Julie Campiche, the Geneva hip-hop group Captains Of The Imagination and soul singer Nnavy.
In addition to the 34 paid concerts, there are 85 free concerts as part of the Off Festival. Artists from the new generation of musicians perform in the accompanying program at 15 venues scattered between the shores of the lake and the alleyways of Cully.
