Dimitri Moretti, the SP member of the cantonal government of Uri, has failed to be elected for a third term of office in the second round of voting. As a result, Uri now has an all-bourgeois government in which the centrist CVP has a majority.

As a result, the SP was unable to defend its left-wing seat on the government council. The centrist CVP now has a majority of four seats. The FDP still has two seats and the SVP one seat.

With 5032 votes, Moretti received the fewest votes of the three candidates running in the second round of voting for the two remaining vacant seats on the cantonal government. The 51-year-old has been a member of the cantonal government since 2016. He was head of the Security Directorate.

Moretti's seat went to Hermann Epp from the centrist CVP, who received 6082 votes. The 49-year-old is a municipal councillor in Silenen. He missed out on a government seat by less than a hundred votes in the first round of voting on March 3. His election has now secured his party a majority in the cantonal government. It had lost this in 2004.

The third candidate, Georg Simmen (FDP), was elected 6,895 times. The 50-year-old thus defended the FDP seat that had become vacant following the resignation of Roger Nager. Simmen is a lawyer and district councillor and lives in Realp. Thanks to his election, the Urseren Valley continues to be represented in the cantonal government.

Urs Janett (FDP), Christian Arnold (SVP), Urban Camenzind (centrist CVP) and Daniel Furrer (centrist CVP) were elected in the first round of voting. In addition, Céline Huber for the centrist CVP was elected to defend the seat of Beat Jörg, who was stepping down from the government.
