Over 1000 FC Zurich fans gathered in the middle of Zurich on Sunday afternoon and caused delays in streetcar traffic: they wanted to march to the Letzigrund stadium, where their south curve was closed for the match against St. Gallen.
The FC Zurich supporters gathered as announced at around 12 noon at Bahnhofplatz in front of Zurich main station. The police were present with a large contingent in and around the station concourse. Streetcars and buses were unable to run at the station.
The fan sectors at the Letzigrund will be closed again this Sunday afternoon for the match at 4.30 pm. Following problems at FC Zurich's away match in Geneva, the authorities have decided to punish FC Zurich and its fans by closing the south curve.
The club had already been banned from opening the fan sectors at the end of January following riots. FC Zurich fans criticized the new sector closure on their website.
