Swissmem, the association of the Swiss tech industry, and Swiss Medtech, the industry association for Swiss medical technology, are delighted with the "yes" vote on the energy decree. Swissmem speaks of an "important contribution to a secure, environmentally friendly and economically viable power supply".

Companies in the tech industry are reliant on this, the association wrote in a press release on Sunday. However, further measures are necessary, such as lifting the ban on the construction of new nuclear power plants and an electricity agreement with the European Union.

Swiss Medtech writes that companies in this sector are not only dependent on a secure power supply. Sustainability is a "highly relevant market access criterion" for the medtech sector. The planned increase in domestic electricity production is therefore good for them.

"Customers and investors are increasingly asking for a carbon footprint," says Swiss Medtech Director Adrian Hunn according to the communiqué.
