The Association of Swiss Police Officers has elected Emmanuel Fivaz as its new President. The previous president, Johanna Bundi Ryser, stepped down due to term limits.

Fivaz, a police officer from Neuchâtel, has been a member of the Central Executive Committee and Vice President of the association for fourteen years, as announced by the Association of Swiss Police Officers (VSPB) on Friday following the 97th Assembly of Delegates in Crans Montana VS. The first woman to head the association, Bundi Ryser was the first woman to hold the position for eight years.

In addition to new elections, the lack of personnel in the Swiss police force was also a topic at the delegates' meeting, according to the statement. Police officers are frustrated, burnt out or receive a better offer and leave the profession as a result. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find the required number of aspirants for police academies.
