The head of the Migros media office, Marcel Schlatter, is leaving the struggling Migros Group. After five years at Migros, including three and a half years as head of the media office, he has decided to leave the Group, as first reported by the media portal "Persönlich.com".

Schlatter confirmed the news to AWP. "It was a very great time, but now it's time for something new for me," he said. He will leave the company in the course of the summer.

As head of the media office, Schlatter is the first point of contact for journalists from all over Switzerland who want to know something about Migros. He looks back on a successful time at Migros. Especially during the pandemic crisis, they did a good job, he said. As "Persönlich.com" further writes, he has also reorganized and professionalized the media office.

But as is well known, a huge earthquake is currently shaking the Migros Group. Migros wants to become more profitable and is therefore divesting various subsidiaries, burying projects and laying off large numbers of employees.

The Marketing and Communications department, which includes the media office, has been particularly affected by the wave of redundancies. According to the Tagesanzeiger, 82 redundancies were announced there. Meanwhile, many employees left or are leaving the "sinking ship" of their own accord. In addition, former Blick editor-in-chief Christian Dorer was appointed as the new head of the entire communications department in February.
