After a cross-border search operation lasting several days, the body of a hiker was recovered in the canton of Graubünden on Sunday afternoon. The 66-year-old from the Feldkirch area had been hiking in Vorarlberg, Austria, last Wednesday and had been reported missing.

The man's body was discovered by a hiker from Germany. He had found the body in the Rätikon region in an impassable area not far from the Salaruelkopf. The summit of the almost 3,000-metre-high mountain lies exactly on the national border between the Austrian state of Vorarlberg and the canton of Graubünden.

According to the police, the body was recovered by helicopter.
