EU agency demands investigation at Airbus

The European Aviation Safety Agency (Easa) is demanding further investigations following engine problems on an Airbus aircraft. An inspection will be requested for at least part of the A350 fleet, Easa told Deutsche Presse-Agentur.
The reason for the action, described as a "precautionary measure", is reportedly an incident on September 1. According to the aviation safety agency, an A350-1041 aircraft operated by Cathay Pacific suffered an engine fire shortly after take-off on a flight from Hong Kong to Zurich. The fire was discovered and extinguished immediately and the aircraft flew safely back to Hong Kong.
It is not yet clear exactly what requirements Easa has for the upcoming inspections. The aviation safety agency intends to publish further details. Airbus has stated that it is taking note of the information provided by Easa and is working closely with the authorities to implement the measures. The A350 aircraft are passenger planes that are used on long-haul routes, for example.
