Defendant claims memory gap before Zurich High Court

The 49-year-old man who allegedly murdered his wife in October 2021 claimed memory gaps before the Zurich High Court on Tuesday. He described the victim as an unstable, often aggressive woman.
His wife had often smoked "weed". As a result, she was mentally distressed and aggressive, the accused said. On October 13, 2021, he was driving near the apartment and happened to see his wife. He got out of the car because he wanted to talk to her about their two children.
He never thought "that something like this would happen to me", he said. He remembers that she was suddenly lying on the floor. He had tried to help her up when he felt pain. From then on, he had no memory. He did not have a knife with him.
Neighbors had testified that they had seen from the window how the man "struck" the woman lying on the floor with a "silvery object" in his hand, as was said at the district court a year ago. According to the prosecution, the man killed his wife with several stab wounds.
