Man wanted to illegally transport 20,000 used tires to Italy

Officials from the Federal Office for Customs and Border Protection have seized over 20,000 used tires in a truck with an Italian license plate at the Stabio TI border crossing. The goods were to have been illegally disposed of in Italy.
However, as the driver did not have the necessary permit for cross-border transportation, the border officials contacted the responsible Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN), according to a communiqué from the Federal Office for Customs and Border Protection (FOCP).
The FOEN then instructed the BAZG employees to return the cargo to Swiss soil.
