Commission wants to extend Hamas ban to Hezbollah

Not only the Islamist Palestinian organization Hamas, but also Hezbollah should be banned in Switzerland. This is what the Security Policy Committee of the Council of States wants.
With 12 votes to 0 and one abstention, the committee backed the law proposed by the Federal Council to ban Hamas, as the parliamentary services announced on Friday. The ban on Hamas should come into force as quickly as possible.
The majority of the committee also wants to ban Hezbollah. With 10 votes to 0 and three abstentions and after an extensive discussion, the committee approved a motion to this effect. In its opinion, Hezbollah should be equated with Hamas.
The Council of States is expected to decide on the Hamas ban in the winter session.
