Probable homicide and suicide in La Chaux-de-Fonds

Following the discovery of three dead bodies in an apartment in La Chaux-de-Fonds NE on Friday, investigators are assuming a double homicide followed by suicide. The victims came from the same family.
They are a married couple - the 38-year-old father and 42-year-old mother - and their 17-year-old daughter, as the public prosecutor's office and the Neuchâtel cantonal police announced on Monday. They are French and Thai nationals and had lived in La Chaux-de-Fonds for many years.
At present, the technical findings at the crime scene point to a double homicide committed by the father with a firearm, followed by his suicide, which was also committed with a weapon. The mother and daughter were probably killed in their sleep, it said.
The motives for these acts were initially investigated further, but appear to be linked to a poor financial situation. According to the findings so far, the crime took place two days before the dead woman was found in the apartment. The investigation was still ongoing on Monday.
