On Tuesday, the District Court of Zurich sentenced four men who were behind the illegal gambling payment card "Antepay" to prison for crimes against the Gambling Act and money laundering. "Antepay" was an FCZ sponsor.

The four men from Turkey received conditional and unconditional prison sentences of between two and four years. They were also ordered to repay CHF 171 million. The proceedings were shortened, which means that they confessed. A fifth defendant had already been sentenced earlier.

Antepay" was a payment card that could only be used for illegal gambling. With gambling websites, the "Antepay" card and the successor product "Gecko", they generated revenues totaling 324 million francs. A total of CHF 171 million flowed into their own coffers.

Between 2019 and 2021, the name "Antepay" was prominently displayed on the FCZ jerseys. President Ancillo Canepa subsequently described the sponsorship deal as "very annoying".
