Two Swiss fintech industry associations are merging. The General Assemblies of the two associations Swiss Fintech Association and Swiss Finance + Technology Association (SFTA) decided on Wednesday to merge into the new Swiss FinTech Association (SFTA) at the request of their Boards of Directors.

Both associations have provided significant impetus for the fintech landscape in recent years, according to a press release issued by the new association on Wednesday evening. The merger gives members access to an even more extensive network and combines the "advocacy skills" of the SFA with the "lively community platform" of the SFTA.

A larger member base means more exchange, more ideas and more synergies. At the same time, a united organization can present itself more convincingly to politicians, regulators, investors and the media. In addition to continuing and further developing the fintech trade fair, the new industry association also wants to facilitate regular, decentralized meetups in all parts of the country in the future.

The board of the merged association will be led by co-presidents Thomas Brändle and Philip Weights and a board with equal representation. According to the press release, the board members have broad and long-standing fintech expertise and a large industry network.
