The "2 x Christmas" campaign starts again in Switzerland on December 24. As part of this campaign, you can send a parcel containing everyday necessities to people living in poverty until January 18.
Swiss Post will accept the "2 x Christmas" parcels free of charge, as announced by the Swiss Red Cross. The solidarity campaign is jointly organized by the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG), Swiss Post, Coop and the Red Cross. The relief supplies collected will be distributed by the Red Cross throughout the country.
Rice, tinned food and jars, muesli, jam and spreads, baby food, coffee, dry food, flour and pasta, which must have a shelf life of at least six months, are particularly in demand.
Hygiene articles such as menstrual pads, absorbent cotton and paper handkerchiefs as well as baby articles such as diapers, care oil and wet wipes are also welcome. Ready-made packages can also be purchased at some Coop outlets.
It is also possible to donate money. These donations are used for winter aid projects in Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kyrgyzstan and Moldova.
Last year, 317 tons of food and hygiene articles were distributed in Switzerland as part of the campaign and 285,000 Swiss francs were provided for winter aid projects in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. In total, more than 50,000 people in Switzerland and abroad benefited from the campaign. 702,000 people in Switzerland are affected by poverty.
