Plinio Martini (1923-1979) was a Swiss author who wrote novels, poems, stories, essays and screenplays. On August 4th, he would have been 100 years old. His literary legacy was acquired by the Swiss Literary Archive (SLA) from his family in 2002. The SLA is dedicated to promoting Martini's work, and on September 14th, they will be hosting an evening dedicated to his film projects at the Swiss National Library in Bern. On September 8th and 9th, a memorial event will be held in Locarno at the Cantonal Library, where Ilaria Macera from the SLA will present Martini's archive. Macera has also written an article for the Swiss Literary Archive's magazine "Quarto" about Martini's unrealised film projects, which will be published in the late autumn. Edizioni Casagrande in Bellinzona is also honouring Martini by re-publishing his classic novel "Il fondo del sacco" (translated as "Rock Bottom") as an e-book, and by releasing a collection of five short stories, one of which is being published for the first time. The collection is edited by Plinio Martini's son Alessandro Martini, a retired professor of Italian literature at the University of Freiburg.
