Prices for Home Ownership Increase in the Second Quarter

The Swiss real estate market saw a rise in prices in the second quarter of 2023, following a decline in the first quarter. According to the Swiss Real Estate Price Index (IMPI), prices rose by 1.2% compared to the previous quarter, and by 2.4% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Both single-family homes and condominiums saw an increase in prices. Single-family homes saw the biggest increase in prices in small urban agglomerations and outside of agglomerations, while condominiums saw the biggest increase in prices in medium-sized urban agglomerations. The IMPI is calculated using data from the 25 largest mortgage institutions in Switzerland, which cover a large market share as most real estate purchases are financed with a mortgage.nnnn
