Bitcoin Suisse: Navigating New Horizons with Leadership Change and Strategic Shift
There will be a change at the head of the crypto company Bitcoin Suisse. Co-founder and former “Head Global Expansion & Strategic Clients”, Andrej Majcen, will take over from Dirk Klee as Group CEO on February 1. In addition, the company now wants to examine alternatives to the banking license it has been seeking to date.
The change in CEO is part of a “strategy adjustment to changed external conditions”, according to a press release issued by Bitcoin Suisse on Tuesday. In view of the “recent developments in Switzerland”, the Board of Directors has decided to adjust the strategy.
Former Barclays banker Klee took over as CEO of Bitcoin Suisse in March 2022. He will remain with the company as Senior Advisor to the Board of Directors and will continue to support the expansion of the asset management business. His successor Majcen has demonstrated expertise and commitment as one of the “most experienced executives” in various functions.
Bitcoin Suisse is also reviewing its intention to obtain a banking license. After a corresponding application was withdrawn in 2021, the company now wants to examine further “license options” “due to the changed external circumstances”. These would fit the business model “better” than a banking license.
