Glowing fairies, busy goblins and singing trees take over in Bern: For the traditional light spectacle, the Federal Palace will be transformed into a fairytale forest this year.
Since 2011, the façade of the parliament building has served as a projection screen each autumn. The main rehearsal for this year’s edition of “Rendez-vous Bundesplatz” took place on Friday evening, the premiere will follow on Saturday.
The show can be seen three times a day until 25 November, except on Mondays. There will also be no screenings on the upcoming election Sunday and on 15 November, when French President Emmanuel Macron is expected in Bern for a state visit.
The organisers of “Rendez-vous Bundesplatz” promise an unusual walk through the forest, with a message hidden behind branches and twigs. For it is not only fairytale characters that find shelter and protection in the forest, but also countless animal and plant species.
“Mystic” is the title of this year’s show, which lasts about half an hour. As always, it is made possible by private sponsors. In addition, the City of Bern has made a contribution of 180,000 Swiss francs.
The light spectacle always attracts around half a million people. Admission is free of charge.
