The 24-year-old Swiss man, who could only be reached from the water, was rescued by pontooners and handed over to an ambulance, which took him to hospital. The search operation launched for the missing 27-year-old man was unsuccessful and was called off in the early hours of the morning.

According to initial findings on the cause of the accident, the 24-year-old had wandered away from a private party. Companions had searched for him and then discovered him on the banks of the Limmat. According to the police, all indications are that the 27-year-old must have fallen into the water while trying to help his colleague.
