Pierre Maudet firmly denies allegations of a car collision in court, asserting his innocence in a disputed traffic incident.
Pierre Maudet stood before the Geneva police court, challenging a fine related to an alleged car collision. Accusations suggest he hit a vehicle and left the scene. Maudet, however, rebuffs these claims, asserting his non-involvement in any accident in Les Acacias in March 2023. “I am certain I did not hit any vehicle,” he stated, reflecting on the night in question.
Post an election campaign event, Maudet recounted the heavy traffic, attributing it to a nearby ice hockey match. He maintains a steady, slow pace in his vehicle, with no recollection of abrupt stops or indications of a collision. Despite the claim, another driver pursued Maudet, noting his license to authorities.
Maudet’s court plea is for acquittal, with the decision pending next Thursday. His legal battles aren’t new; a 2022 conviction by the Federal Supreme Court over benefits received during a 2015 Abu Dhabi trip marks his history. Yet, Geneva’s electorate reinstated him in the cantonal government in April 2023, following a 2021 electoral defeat.
