15-year-old recovered dead after swimming accident in the Limmat in Zurich

A 15-year-old boy was rescued dead from the Limmat on Sunday morning by a lifeguard after a swimming accident in Zurich. He jumped into the water on Saturday evening and never resurfaced, according to Zurich city police on Sunday.

The young man had jumped into the water from the Drahtschmidlisteg. The city police were alerted shortly after 9.30 p.m. and sent out several patrols to search for him. However, the police reported that the dives remained unsuccessful until Sunday night. A helicopter was also involved in the search on Sunday morning.

According to the city police, a 29-year-old man was rescued from the Limmat on Saturday evening with minor injuries by helpers and police officers. Shortly after 8 p.m., several callers had reported to the police that a man was floating in the Limmat and calling for help.
