A 37-year-old Swiss man fatally injured a 30-year-old woman during an altercation in Richterswil, Zurich, early on Saturday morning. The alleged perpetrator was arrested. The background to the crime was initially unknown.
The Protection & Rescue Operations Center received a report shortly after 5.30 a.m. that a woman had been injured in an argument in an apartment in an apartment building, the Zurich cantonal police said.
Despite the immediate rescue measures initiated by an ambulance team, the woman died of her injuries at the scene. The suspected perpetrator, who was present in the apartment, was arrested. No details were given about the motive for the crime or the weapon used.
The exact course of events and the background to the violent crime are the subject of ongoing investigations, which are being conducted by the Zurich cantonal police and the Public Prosecutor's Office I for Serious Violent Crime, according to the statement.
