A 45-year-old German woman has died in an accident on the Lagginhorn in Valais. A second female climber was seriously injured in the accident on the four-thousander.

On Monday shortly after 9:30 am, a group of eight mountaineers were descending unroped on the west ridge of the Lagginhorn, as reported by the Valais cantonal police on Tuesday. Suddenly, two women fell several hundred meters down the west flank in quick succession at the same spot.
