52-year-old in Ticino loses control of car and injures herself

A woman was seriously injured in a car accident in Gordola in Ticino on Thursday. For reasons as yet unexplained, the 52-year-old lost control of her vehicle and crashed first into a street lamp and then into a parked car.
The accident occurred shortly after 1.30 p.m., according to the Ticino cantonal police. The woman, who lives in the region, was traveling on the Via Gottardo in the direction of Locarno.
After receiving initial medical treatment at the scene, the woman was flown to hospital by Rega. According to the police, her injuries are serious.
