58-year-old Frenchman drowned in Lake Geneva

A 58-year-old Frenchman died in a swimming accident on the beach in Nyon VD later on Monday afternoon.
A witness reported to the police that a swimmer had got into difficulties at around 5pm on Monday near Nyon beach. Rescue services, including divers from the lake brigades of Coppet, Rolle and Nyon as well as a Rega helicopter, searched the area and were able to locate the unconscious swimmer, as reported by the Vaud cantonal police on Tuesday.
Despite resuscitation attempts, the victim died. The public prosecutor's office opened an investigation.
