A recycling landfill site burns in Reconvilier

A recycling landfill site in Reconvilier in the Bernese Jura caught fire on Tuesday morning. The fire caused heavy smoke and an unpleasant smell, as the authorities reported via the Alertswiss warning app.
A hangar at a recycling center on Rue du Moulin was on fire, as the Bern cantonal police reported at the request of Keystone-SDA. Extinguishing work was still underway on Tuesday morning. The police were not aware of any injuries.
The authorities called on the population to close windows and doors and switch off ventilation systems. The affected area should be avoided and traffic around the accident site is severely affected. However, there is no danger.
