On Monday morning, a mysterious countdown expired on AC/DC's official website. Since then it has been clear: the legendary rock band is going on tour next summer. On June 29, they will make a stop at the Letzigrund in Zurich.
"Power UP" is the name of the tour, named after the last AC/DC studio album. Concerts are planned in 21 countries between May and August, in Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria, England, Slovakia, Belgium, France, Ireland - and Switzerland. Tickets go on sale on February 16.
It will be the first time in almost eight years that the hard rock band AC/DC ("Highway To Hell", "Thunderstruck") will go on tour. Last year, the rock icons led by 68-year-old guitarist and founder Angus Young made their stage comeback at a festival in the USA after a seven-year break. Rumors of a tour had been circulating for some time. Last week, AC/DC fueled the speculation with a countdown on their website.
In addition to guitarist Angus Young, who always performs in school uniform, and long-time singer Brian Johnson, the "Power Up" tour will feature rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, who succeeded band founder Malcolm Young in 2014, who fell ill and died in 2017. New to the band are former Jane's Addiction bassist Chris Chaney and drummer Matt Laug, who performed with AC/DC at last year's "Power Trip" festival.
