The fourth and final special flight of Swiss from Tel Aviv to Zurich arrived safely in Switzerland on Friday evening. The plane landed at 9:54 pm at Zurich Airport. Over the last few days, around 880 Swiss citizens have been flown out of Israel. On board the Friday evening flight were 212 adults and children, as well as 10 babies, according to a spokesperson for the airline. Swiss will not be bringing any more Swiss citizens back to their homeland with special flights from Israel for the time being. Two evacuation flights planned for Saturday were cancelled at short notice due to security concerns. The Israeli government's ultimatum to Hamas was due to end on Saturday morning. Therefore, it was not considered responsible to carry out the flights. The first evacuation flight on Tuesday evening carried 224 people to Switzerland, followed by a second special flight with 215 people on Wednesday evening and a third special flight with 224 people on Thursday. Regular Swiss flights to Tel Aviv will not be resumed until at least October 22nd. The suspension of connections has been extended for security reasons. The Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs recommends that Swiss nationals continue to explore other commercial flight options and other departure possibilities. The department is also examining further solutions for providing subsidiary assistance to Swiss citizens wishing to leave Israel.
