Anti-nuclear campaign and 2017 Nobel Prize winner congratulated

The 2017 Nobel Peace Prize winner, the Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (Ican), has congratulated this year's winners from Japan. The anti-nuclear weapons organization Nihon Hidankyo is working towards the same goal.
This is a very important and absolutely deserved award, Ican announced in Geneva. The danger of a renewed use of nuclear weapons is possibly higher than ever.
The commitment of the survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, who founded the organization, was decisive for the adoption and entry into force of the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) in 2021. Ican was a driving force behind the treaty.
"Next year marks the 80th anniversary of the catastrophic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It is more important than ever that the voices of the survivors and their urgent demands for action are heard and heeded," Ican announced.
