The Innerrhoden Department of Finance presented a budget with a deficit of six million francs for 2025 in Appenzell on Friday. According to the canton, growth in tax revenue will be offset by higher expenditure on personnel and healthcare.
Total expenditure in the coming year amounts to CHF 189.1 million, as the Innerrhoden Department of Finance wrote in a press release on Friday. Income is estimated at 183.1 million francs. Overall, the result will improve by 1.6 million francs compared to the previous year.
The Innerrhoden Department of Finance is not expecting a profit distribution from the Swiss National Bank in 2025. "At least tax revenues will continue to show solid growth," the communiqué continued.
"External financing will not be necessary until the end of 2025 at the earliest, as the deficit and the high investments can no longer be fully financed from the company's own reserves," said Ruedi Eberle (SVP), Head of the Finance Department, in the press release.
The Innerrhoden cantonal parliament, the Grand Council, will discuss the budget at the beginning of December.
