Around 50 people evacuated after fire in Chiasso

Around 50 people had to be evacuated on Thursday evening due to a fire in a multi-storey residential building in Chiasso TI. One person complained of symptoms of poisoning, all others were unharmed.
The fire broke out on the fifth floor of the seven-storey building, the Ticino cantonal police announced on Thursday evening. The tenants were evacuated as a preventative measure. The fire department was able to bring the flames under control. The apartment in which the fire broke out was badly damaged. The cause of the fire was initially unclear.
