A monumental work of art by Saype was unveiled in Fribourg's lower town on Friday. The Swiss-French artist created the completely biodegradable fresco over the course of a week.
The work of art on the Neigles field can be viewed until around mid-September, depending on how the grass grows. Saype's visit is part of the celebrations to mark the 125th anniversary of Fribourg Tourism. Although the artwork is ephemeral, it will leave its mark on the cultural heritage, the organization announced.
The huge fresco can be seen from several locations, for example from the Poya Bridge or the cathedral tower. Saype tried to play with the special features of the city and Switzerland in the work, according to a statement. A Saype exhibition can also be seen at "L'Atelier".
Saype is regarded as the inventor of environmentally friendly painting. He combines street art and land art.
