Boos also at the ESC jury points ceremony

There were loud boos at the traditional scoring ceremony of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in Malmö on Saturday evening. Before the start of the video link to the juries from the 37 ESC countries, ESC boss Martin Österdahl earned dissatisfied murmurs from the audience in the hall. When the points were awarded from Israel, the country also had to endure protests and boos.

There was a particularly loud roar and booing when Österdahl read out the Netherlands' points. On the day of the final, it was announced that Dutch candidate Joost Klein had been excluded from the competition. According to the Dutch television station Avrotros, this was due to an aggressive gesture made by Klein towards a camerawoman. Although the eliminated Dutch contestants were still being judged at the time, they were removed from the competition in the judging following their exclusion.

Swiss act Nemo was particularly popular with the jury. The judges' verdict usually accounts for 50 percent of the final result.
