Building Damage from 70 to 90 Million Swiss Francs in La Chaux-de-Fonds

The storm that hit La Chaux-de-Fonds on Monday caused an estimated 70 to 90 million francs worth of damage to buildings in the region. 4000 to 5000 of the 7500 buildings in the area were affected, with the extent and severity of the damage varying from building to building. Damage ranged from large-scale destruction of facades and roofs being torn off to a few fallen roof tiles and broken windows. For some of the heavily affected factories in Crêt-du-Locle, the damage could reach several million francs. So far, the building insurance company has received 1400 to 1500 calls to report damage, and the online channel has yet to be evaluated.
