The Swiss government has declared the de-mining of civilian and agricultural areas in the war-torn Ukraine a priority and has allocated 100 million Swiss francs to support the rebuilding of the country. The funds, which will be provided by the Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Protection of the Population and Sport (VBS) and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (EDA), will be available from 2024 to 2027. Switzerland is already involved in the humanitarian de-mining of Ukraine and has provided 15.2 million Swiss francs for 2022 and 2023. The VBS has also supplied a de-mining device. This financial support will help Ukraine to rebuild and recover from the conflict, and the Swiss government has committed to providing its expertise to assist in this immense humanitarian challenge.
