Callista Gingrich becomes US ambassador to Switzerland

US President-elect Donald Trump has announced the appointment of Callista Gingrich as the new US ambassador to Switzerland on his own social media platform "Truth Social".
"I am pleased to announce that Callista L. Gingrich will be our next United States Ambassador to Switzerland," Trump wrote about an hour ago. Gingrich was already US ambassador to the Vatican during the future US president's first term in office. In his post, Trump wrote that the 62-year-old Republican had worked to promote and defend international religious freedom, combat human trafficking and provide humanitarian aid around the world during her last term in office. Callista Gingrich is married to Newt Gingrich. The Republican was Speaker of the House of Representatives in the USA between 1995 and 1999.
