Car transport on the Furka Pass resumes operations

The car transport service on the Furka Pass between Realp UR and Oberwald VS resumed operations late Tuesday afternoon. It had previously been suspended on Monday because the road between Realp and Hospental in the canton of Uri was closed due to the risk of avalanches.
The first train of the Furka Car Transport ran again from Oberwald at 5.05 p.m. according to the timetable, the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway announced.
The loading stations are located in Realp and Oberwald. The journey through the tunnel takes around 20 minutes and offers a time-saving alternative to the 45-minute journey over the Furka Pass. The road over the pass is closed in winter.
