Chatbots are becoming increasingly popular in Switzerland. Many people now prefer to be helped online by such digital assistants rather than by a human being.

Specifically, 80% of the Swiss population now know what a chatbot is, compared to just 57% three years ago. In addition, 63% of respondents to a representative survey by Comparis have already interacted with a chatbot at least once. The use of services such as ChatGPT or Gemini has already reached half of the population, according to a press release issued by the comparison service on Tuesday night.

The increasing prevalence of chatbots is also accompanied by their growing acceptance. 72 percent of respondents would prefer to interact with a chatbot for a faster online search, compared to just under 56 percent in 2021. 72 percent would also prefer a chatbot for questions about delivery status and 63 percent for feedback on the customer experience.

Chatbots are particularly widespread in online shopping. They are also being used more and more frequently for internet searches and for obtaining information online. Comparis digital expert Frick emphasizes in the press release that positive experiences with chatbots increase interest in further use.
